CORINTHIANS ahead in SUDAMERICANA's quarters // World of Sports // LetsGoCoringation

Greetings, Coringation travelers!

Last tuesday, September the 17th of 2024, Corinthians travelled to the state of Ceará to play against Fortaleza in their stadium, valid for the first leg of the quarter finals dispute in the Conmebol Copa Sudamericana, the Latin America equivalent of the Europa Cup.

The game started with chances on both ends of the field, but once again our keeper Hugo Souza really shined in defending our goal, thank you!

An interesting fact is that I finished writing and posting about the Brabas during the interval of this game, and that was what I wrote about our first goal:

[...] it's also currently halftime in our first leg game against Fortaleza for the Sulamericana, and ma boy Igor Coronado has just scored a banger

Igor Coronado was assisted by Talles Magno, and kicks the ball from outside the box. The pathway curves due to the effect he puts on the shot, and it bursts through 25 meters onto the back of the net, in probably the most beautiful goal in the week! 1x0

During the first half, a lot of chances were wasted by Yuri Alberto and Talles Magno. Both of the strikers did not have a good game.

But, in the last minutes of the second half, Yuri Alberto passes inside the box for the right-back/winger Matheuzinho, that tries to cross/kick into the goalkeeper; he defends the ball back into the start of the box, where it finds, once again, ma boy Yuri, that strikes it with his left foot. The football kicks once in front of the keeper, that fails in stopping it, for the explosion of the Fiel Torcida throughout the planet. 2x0

We got a really good and surprising victory away in the first leg of the quarter-finals decision, but there's still the second match. We can be happy, but we cannot lose focus: job's not done yet. Next tuesday there's the second and decisive game, but this time we're playing at the best stadium in the Americas, the Neo Química Arena, or Itaquerão.
