Fortschritt, Farbrausch und Schockmoment / Progress, colour frenzy and shock moment

Im Moment kommt es mir definitiv so vor, als ob sich die Geschwindigkeit unseres alltäglich ablaufenden Live-3D-Films verdoppelt hat… Wir ackern und schaffen und gehen an unsere letzten Reserven: Endspurt?!

Soll heißen: die Berliner Wohnung fängt an, leerer und öder zu werden. Ihr wißt schon – kein schönes Zuhause ohne Pflanzen. Und die stehen mehrheitlich bereits im neuen Domizil. Ich bin einfach zu oft und zu lange hier, um sie woanders noch gut versorgen zu können. Reziprok fängt es hier an, wohnlich zu wirken.

Und gleichzeitig wie die berühmte ewige Baustelle. Ein krasser Kontrast, der uns an die offene To-Do-Liste erinnert und gleichzeitig Druck aufbaut (ja, besonders auf mich: ich will das jetzt hinter mich bringen!)

Ich verfalle also meinem Farbenrausch und werfe Apricot, Toffee, Capuccino, Lindgrün, Brombeere und Flieder an die Wände. (Eßzimmer und Wohnzimmer warten noch auf die endgültige Farbgebung – ich schwanke etwas ;-)) Türen und Treppen glänzen in Bordeaux-Rot und Orange.

Außerdem gibt es Fußböden: bieder im Holz-Look, es folgt eine Gummi-Kork-Mischung im Bad und Teppichboden in ausgewählten Bereichen.

Erste Möbel haben zumindest so ungefähr ihren künftigen Platz gefunden. Erwartet werden im Laufe der Woche die großen Küchengeräte (man nennt sie nach wie vor „Weiße Ware“, aber ich schwöre: sie werden auf keinen Fall weiß aussehen ;-)))

Und wir statten das letzte Zimmer mit seinem Fußboden aus: der zertifizierte Perlit-Sachverständige @jochenpaul darf gespannt sein auf unsere Berichte am nächsten Wochenende.

Winzige Rückschläge (oder besser: Spaßbremsen) darf ich auch wieder vermelden: der Elektriker hat bei seinem finalen Einsatz ein Kabel vergessen, auf den Sicherungskasten zu legen – die einzige bereits montierte zivile Lampe funktioniert damit immer noch nicht. Der Gute ist jetzt im verdienten Urlaub und bessert erst anschließend nach. Was er nämlich noch versemmelt hat: die Absicherung unseres Durchlauferhitzers mit nur 16 A ist absolut nicht ausreichend. Das Produktdatenblatt lag ihm allerdings frühzeitig vor und insofern dürfte die nächste und dann letzte Anfahrt nicht zu unseren Lasten gehen…

Nun: es läuft! Ich fühle mich euphorisch und in Aufbruchsstimmung.

Um so mehr hat es mich erschreckt, als @panafricana-sam mir letztens schrieb; Ihr erinnert euch vielleicht auch noch an seine Begegnung mit einem anderen Extrem-Biker, der ebenfalls von Marrakesch aus unterwegs war Richtung Kapstadt, aber über eine Binnenroute…? Sam hatte ein paar Tage eine Menge Spaß mit ihm, fuhr eine kurze Strecke gemeinsam und bekam sogar wichtige Ersatzteile von dem Kollegen nach Ghana gebracht. Was soll ich sagen: der coole und freundliche und sympathische junge Mann, Leon, kam dieser Tage auf seiner Tour bei einem Unfall mit einem nigerianischen Truck ums Leben!

Mann. Was hatte der Sam für ein Glück unterwegs (bei allem Pech)! Er kam heil und gesund wieder nach Hause und brütet „nur“ an Problemen, vor denen man nun mal nicht wegradeln kann… Wir brauchen wieder etwas mehr Zufriedenheit! Getrieben durch‘s Leben zu hetzen und der Welt (sich selbst?) die eigene Großartigkeit zu beweisen – das ist doch nix! Und Sanieren auf Teufel-komm-raus und dabei Rücken und Knie zu ruinieren ist mindestens genau so doof.

Ich hätte gerne eine Hollywood-Schaukel. Dringend ;-))

At the moment, it definitely feels as if the speed of our daily live 3D film has doubled... We're working hard and creating and using our last reserves: final spurt?!

In other words: the Berlin flat is starting to become emptier and more boring. You know - no lovely home without plants. And most of them are already in their new home. I'm simply here too often and for too long to be able to look after them properly elsewhere. Reciprocally, it's starting to look cosy here.

And at the same time like the famous eternal building site. A stark contrast that reminds us of the open to-do list and at the same time puts pressure on us (yes, especially on me: I want to get this done now!).

So I go into a colour frenzy and throw apricot, toffee, capuccino, lime green, blackberry and lilac on the walls. (The dining room and living room are still waiting for the final colour scheme - I'm wavering a bit ;-)) Doors and stairs shine in Bordeaux red and orange.

There is also flooring: a bland wooden look, followed by a rubber-cork mix in the bathroom and carpeting in selected areas.

The first pieces of furniture have at least roughly found their future place. The large kitchen appliances are expected in the course of the week (they are still called ‘white goods’, but I swear: they will definitely not look white ;-)))

And we are fitting the last room with its floor: the certified perlite expert @jochenpaul can look forward to our reports next weekend.

I can also mention a few minor setbacks (or rather, fun setbacks): the electrician forgot to lay one of the cables on the fuse box during his final job - the only civilian lamp that has already been fitted is still not working. The good guy is now on a well-earned holiday and will only rectify the problem afterwards. Another thing he messed up: the fuse protection for our instantaneous water heater with only 16 A is completely inadequate. However, he had the product data sheet in good time, so the next and final visit should not be at our expense...

Well: it's working! I feel euphoric and in a spirit of optimism.

I was all the more shocked when @panafricana-sam wrote to me the other day; you may remember his encounter with another extreme biker who was also travelling from Marrakesh towards Cape Town, but via an inland route...? Sam had a lot of fun with him for a few days, rode a short distance together and even got important spare parts brought to Ghana by his colleague. What can I say: the cool, friendly and likeable young man, Leon, was killed in an accident with a Nigerian truck on his tour these days!

Man. What luck Sam had on the road (despite all his bad luck)! He came home safe and sound and is ‘only’ brooding over problems that one can't cycle away from... We need a little more contentment again! Being driven to rush through life and prove to the world (to oneself?) how great you are - that's nothing! And redeveloping at the drop of a hat and ruining your back and knees in the process is just as stupid.

I'd really like to have a Hollywood swing. Urgently ;-))
