In addition, the freezer section is currently still empty and would consume an unnecessary amount of electricity to cool the air to -18°C. But it doesn't have to; you can extend the cooling section and then ‘only’ have normal cooling in the whole appliance.

2 months ago we bought a new refrigerator. We chose a model with 2 compressors so that we can turn off the freezer if it is not needed.
Before that, we had a similar refrigerator with 2 compressors. We bought it in 1998. It is still working, but there is a hole in the case. However, the freezer is working properly.

Also an idea. In general, we will be freezing a lot, so we need the full capacity. I also like the idea of being able to refrigerate more if necessary; I have plans like the living room restaurant I described some time ago...

If you are going to freeze a lot of food, you can purchase a separate freezer. I bought one 10 years ago. We freeze berries, vegetables, mushrooms, and meat.

Yes, I also find it practical: we usually cook larger portions than for the two of us and then freeze half accordingly. At the moment, we had a separate fridge and freezer. It takes up a lot of space and seems ineffective to me. And it doesn't look nearly as cool ;-))
