Hello friends I'm here again for the food challenge organized by the steemkids and parent community.

My today's food challenge will be on okra soup.

Alot of people doesn't know how to cook this delicious soup, so today I will love to share my recipes with us all so that those that want to learn can also learn from it.

Okra soup is a traditional African meal which is being enjoyed by a lot of people all over the world. This savory and nutritious soup which is made with the use of okra, a green vegetable which is rich in vitamins and minerals. It is a known dish in Nigeria, Ghana, and some other West African countries.

To cook okra soup, you will need the following ingredients:

  • okra, which is chopped
  • meat (chicken, beef, or even goat meat) depending on your choice of protein
  • fish
  • periwinkle
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • water
  • palm oil
  • Salt, pepper, and other seasonings for the taste

To begin, you have to season your protein first, in my recipes I make use of ice fish and chicken, cow meat and goat meat are very costly in my area so I decided to make use of this. But trust me the soup comes out very delicious.

heat the palm oil in a large pot over average heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until it is soft. Then, you add the fish, meat and cook until it browned. At this point the aroma of the soup will start coming out.

As for frying the fish and meat, remember I am using fresh fish and chicken for this recipe. So you will have to fry it a little for the fish to have a good taste.

After adding every thing listed above, you then add the chopped okra and water to the pot. Allow the mixture to be boiled, then reduce the heat and let it be heated for some minutes, or until the okra is okay. But I like it when my okra is still fresh.

Spice the soup with the use of salt, pepper, and any other seasonings which you prefer. Serve the okra soup with any swallow of your choice

Okra soup is not only delicious but also totally healthy. Okra is low in calories and at the same time high in fiber, making it a better choice for those looking for how to maintain a healthy diet. Additionally, the meat in the soup gives protein and other essential nutrients.
