A former West Bromwich Albion midfielder who made his professional breakthrough at the Hawthorns, Maresca also played for clubs in Italy, Spain and Greece during a career spanning almost two decades. He spent the 2020/21 season as coach of Manchester City's elite development squad, leading them to the Premier League 2 title, before spending time as Parma's coach before returning to Manchester City in June 2022 as one of Pep Guardiola's assistants. He took charge of Leicester last summer and quickly oversaw their promotion, before leading the Foxes back to the Premier League following relegation for the 2022/23 season. Maresca will get his first taste of the Premier League's first game against Chelsea when the fixture list for the 2024/25 season is released at 9am BST on Tuesday, June 18. He will then meet the Chelsea players for the first time as they return to pre-season training in early July. Later in the month, he and his team will travel to the United States for five friendlies, including one where Maresca takes on his former club Manchester City on August 3.

Given the promising stepping stones he has established in just one and only season with the team, the club is not pleased that Enzo had decided to part ways with our vision. However, now that Enzo's decision has been made and the board's conditions for his resignation have been met, we sincerely at this point want to wish him all the best in his future pursuits. He leaves the club with the full recognition of his contribution to an immediate return to the Premier League in the 2023/24 season. But be it as it may, the team's board will look out for a new head coach for the returning premier league team and for the entire success of the team.
