Confirmed the death of galaxies by black holes.

Supermassive black holes are those found in the heart of most Galaxies, we are talking about monsters of more than a million solar masses and although we imagine them as if they were a sun around which the Stars of the galaxy revolve In a kind of cosmic living uncle, things are more complicated and in fact the existence of a supermassive black hole in the center of a galaxy may not be as peaceful as we think, it may be much more tragic.

The latest discovery was made through the James Webb space telescope managed by NASA and the European space agency. Thanks to this discovery, astronomers have confirmed that supermassive black holes can also kill the Galaxies where they are located. This National team of astronomers carried out the discovery I was looking for to try to understand how the Galaxies in our environment, including our own, are formed, that is, how the Milky Way came to be the way it is.

And to do this what they did is look into the distance because when we look at the stars we are looking at the past, when we look at the sun we see it as it was a little more than 8 minutes ago when we look at the stars of Alpha Centauri we see them as they were 4 minutes ago years and 5 months and when we look further we see further in time, so if we capture very distant galaxies we will be able to see what they were like in their “infant” form and understand how they evolved and grew until giving rise to galaxies like ours.

Astronomers were in that task when they managed to capture a very distant galaxy called GS-10578; Pablo González Pérez González is a professor at the Complutense University of Madrid and is the main co-author of the study. In fact, his role in the research is so important that they have called the Pablo galaxy, the Pablo galaxy is similar in mass to the Milky Way, but It is only about 2000 million years old or what is the same we see it as it was about 11.8 billion years ago, that galaxy has a supermassive black hole in its center like most galaxies but this black hole is something " malignant".

What the astronomers discovered is that GS-10578 is essentially dead or was dead in the past, in other words, that it has stopped forming stars. When observing with James Webb, the team saw that the Pablo galaxy was emitting large amounts of gas. At speeds of about 1000 km per second, those fast winds were in turn being expelled by the black hole's surroundings.

And the mass of gas that is expelled is greater than what the galaxy would need to continue forming new stars, so in other words the black hole is killing or was killing in the past that galaxy by suffocating it without resources so that it could form. new stars, this happened a long time ago, and at the present, wherever this Pablo galaxy is, it will be without gas and without materials to create new stars and new planets.

In the Pablo Galaxy there will no longer be stars like the sun, since they will have died, because on average a star like the sun lives between 10,000 to 11,000 million years, if there are any left it will be in its final red giant phase, it may still be If there are any orange stars left, which are a little smaller than the sun and live between 15,000 and 30,000 million years, these stars in orange lullabies may perhaps be able to host worlds with lives similar to the Earth, but they will be scattered points of light that will end up going out.

The Pablo galaxy, wherever it is, we would now see it with a reddish, faint, ghostly appearance because it would be full of stars in very faint red dwarfs, since these stars can live much longer, more than 100 billion years and all of them rotating in around the infinite darkness of a supermassive black hole.
