This is Truly a very simple formula. This will not work if you have broken bones. But if you slipped and fell on something and your wrist is swollen and hurts following these steps will greatly reduce your healing time.

Remember this term. R-I-C-E : this stands for:

  • Rest
  • Ice
  • Compression
  • Elevate (above your heart)

Rest: Try not to move your injury in anyway that hurts. If you feel pain that is not good. We want to avoid this for at least a week.

Ice: Simple 20 mins ice on, 1 hour ice off(you can also do 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off). Repeat this for a week. Look online for a big ice pack, one that you can wrap around your wrist or the injured area. Also you will need a elastic bandage that you can compress the ice to the effected area.

Compression: If its your Ankle, go to local pharmacy, or look online for a brace, something that will prevent your injured area from moving around and feeling more pain. Remember the goal is avoid feeling any pain for at least a week maybe two. If you can expedite the time taken to get this then do it. This is a vital step in recovery.

Elevate: If its your Wrist keep it raised up on a pillow above your heart. Same thing with your Ankle, lay down and keep it raised above your heart for at least a week to two weeks.

Reminder, this is only if your bones are not broken. If your bones are broken than your going to need to get them set and be put in a cast.
This method will save you thousands of dollars in hospital or doctor bills.

I love this!
I injured my ankle beginning of april, and was told about the RICE method. So grateful for it, cuz I COULDNT go to the docs (i was in that much pain) nor did I see a purpose for it, this method saved my butt! I was on bed for a month or so, in a ton of pain.

Thanks! Glad you are feeling all healed up! =)

Thank you, me too!
