Amblyopia can result from any condition that prevents the eye from focusing clearly. Amblyopia can be caused by the misalignment of the two eyes a condition called strabismus. With strabismus, the eyes can cross in (esotropia) or turn out (exotropia).
Amblyopia is decreased vision in one or both eyes due to abnormal development of vision in infancy or childhood. In amblyopia, there may not be an obvious problem of the eye.
Particularly if lazy eye is detected early in life and promptly treated, reduced vision can be avoided. But if left untreated, lazy eye can cause severe visual disability in the affected eye, including legal blindness.
Both eyes must receive clear images during the critical period. Anything that interferes with clear vision in either eye during the critical period (birth to 6 years of age) can result in amblyopia (a reduction in vision not corrected by glasses or elimination of an eye turn).
Sometimes a child’s eyes don’t line up like they should. One could turn in or out. The doctor will call this strabismus, and it can also lead to amblyopia.

lazy eye can cause serious vision problems:

Rapid loss of visual acuity in the lazy eye when left uncorrected and increasingly unused
Loss of binocular vision, leading to the inability to gauge depth.
Increased risk of vision loss for the stronger eye, since vision problems that typically occur in both eyes will affect the stronger eye first.
All children should have their vision checked by their pediatrician, family physician or ophthalmologist at or before their 4th birthday. If there is a family history of misaligned eyes, childhood cataracts or serious eye disease, an ophthalmologist should check their eyes when they are an infant.

advanced binocular vision treatment includes:

• Binocular vision therapy with 3D gaming

• Perceptual learning

• Visual processing development

• Oculomotor therapy

• Accommodation “focusing” development

• Eye-hand coordination training

The most important part is that every child should have vision checked by ophthalmologist...In my family is a child with strabism, and this girl started with glasses at the age of 4...Now it is almost completely corrected

Very informative post. thanks for sharing..
