What is lactose intolerance?

Lactose or milk sugar is an integral part of the milk that is broken down into the small intestine by the enzymes of lactose to two simple sugars for better digestion.
If there is not enough lactose, undigested lactose gets in the colon, where boiling occurs under the action of bacteria.

Gases and organic acids occurs, which can cause congestion, stomach cramps and diarrhea. Up to 20% of the population develops lactose intolerance after younger age, whereby is individual quantity of milk which a person can bear.

How is lactose intolerance determined?

The diagnosis is based on breath by specialists for internal diseases and allergies.
Person has to drink a glass of water which contains hydrogen and after, in certain time slots specialist measure the amount of hydrogn in breath with the instrument.
An elevated level of hydrogen indicates on lactose intoleration.
At least 8 hours before testing the patient supose not to eat or smoke but has to drink more water.

What to pay attention when you're lactose intolerant?

To avoid ailments, patient has to avoid food with lactose or get into organism enzim lactaze as powder so person can digest milk sugar.
Preparations like this has to be taken before food with lactose. It has to be careful with lactose which can be in chocolate, sos, medicaments...
Coconut, soya or rice potions are good replacements for milk and they don't contain lactose.
