Perhaps for fans of the game has a real time strategy genre, Age of Empires game is certainly no stranger to game lovers. RTS game is one of the popular games in the era that is in 1997 - 2007. One game of the series is Age of Empires II, can even be called as one game that brought great changes in the world of RTS, including some new things called affect RTS world to date.

Age of Empires II game this is what this time will be a tranding topic in its era! The game was first released in 1999, Age of Empires II: Age of Kings became one of the best-selling games of the year. How come ! The game has two expansion packs, The Conquerors released in 2000 and The Forgotten called "semi-official" updates and newly released when Age of Empires II is 14 years old! Wahh ... amazing is not steemian?

Age of Empires II, along with its expansion pack, The Conquerors and The Forgotten, carries the main timeline in the Middle Age to Reinassance era. Forget the latest weapons in the world today! You will only be dealing with very "primitive" weapons in this game, such as swords, arrows, and so on. Yes..! , in those days did not know the modern weapons that exist today! Really interesting and unique not a steemian?

In the campaign mode game, you will get missions related to some important figures in that era, such as Saladin, Genghis Khan, Atilla The Hun, and William Wallace. On some missions, you will directly control the characters and, of course, should not allow the characters to be killed by the opponent. Control of the historical era figures are of course become one of the interesting points of this game.

In addition to that campaign mode, there are also some other modes that can be played by the owner of this game, such as Random Map with some victory condition, chasing the opposing king in Regicide, as well as some other modes such as Deathmatch, King of The Hill, and so on. These modes can certainly spend a lot of your time, including to gather resources, build troops, and flatten the opponent's kingdom. In a way, Age of Empires II will spend a lot of your time playing it. That's what we feel when we suddenly find our Steam account has been displaying dozens of hours just to play this Game.

What Do I Love about the Age of Empires II Game?

Village People

One of the most useful units in the game Age of Empires II is People Village. There are so many functions that we can get from the unit, such as collecting resources around you, building a building, to fighting! Yes, you can use your unit to help defend the city when it gets attack from the other side. These things make this one unit has many uses throughout the game.

In addition, villagers in this game also carry a unique thing, namely their response when you ordered to run a thing. They can respond in different languages

according to their country! This unique thing does seem simple, but it is still something that you may rarely find in other games. Wow .. unique is not a steemian?

Special Units of Each Country

Every country in the Age of Empires II has a special war unit that can only be produced by that country alone. The special units have varied shapes, ranging from horsemen, archers, to other more exotic forms, such as the War Elephant. Each special unit has its own advantages and also its own weaknesses which of course make you have to think carefully how to use the special unit to the fullest.

One unit of this war can be quite interesting from this game is Fire Ship. While most units in this game rely on attacks from weapons that can be considered "primitive", Fire Ship seems to present something different and impressed "somewhat modern", namely flamethrower. This one unit has a price that tends to be cheap and has a high enough effectiveness when used to fight other naval units.

One of the game modes that exist in Age of Empires II, Regicide, requires you to kill the king of the opponent to defeat him. The king will generally be in the main palace of the opponent, so of course you will attempt to destroy the palace first. One interesting thing will come when the king is forced to get out of his hiding place. In addition, every country in this game has a similar base unit, so the strength of each country will be on the same level, regardless of the special unit they have. It makes this game presents a game that will be balanced regardless of any country you choose. In general, a country that excels in one area will have weaknesses in other fields and each country will have methods to exploit the weaknesses of other countries. That's the simplicity of the system that makes Age of Empires II an exciting game.

What We Hate from Age of Empires II?

Monk unit is a unit that is quite annoying in this game. Why? Units that are basically a support type unit can turn out to be used to perform massive attacks to the opponent through the special ability, namely Convert. Clever opponents take advantage of monks with these special abilities along with some upgrades in Monastery may be a problem for you because your units may turn out and attack you on your own. Silent and looks innocent but deadly.

Gold & Stone

These two types of resources will be encountered in a very limited number of folders! You must be careful in using both resources, especially for the stone because if you have spent all the mines around your area and still need it, you can not help but you should look for it in a place far enough. It certainly will present its own difficulties.

In This Game Gold, similar to Stone, is also available in limited quantities around your area. In addition to mine, you can still get gold with some other things, such as collecting relic, utilizing trade routes, or exchange it with other resources in the market. However, your need for gold will be far above the stone, so the limited number of folders in the map at some point will complicate the development of your kingdom, especially if you spend too early on the game.

Watch Tower

A cursory building looks useful, but it is not as useful as the Tower Tower. The guard tower looks to have a form that is convincing enough to keep the surrounding area from attacking the opposing forces. However, when the opponents actually attack, you may feel that the Watch Tower is not as good as imagined. By default, Watch Tower has low accuracy and damage, which makes it unlikely to keep your territory from attacking the other side. Fortunately, with various upgrades, Watch Tower can be a pretty handy building. However, to increase the usability of Watch Tower, there is a price to pay, which is the cost of research to improve the ability that sometimes feels quite large.

After playing a lot of RTS games from the era after Age of Empires II, one thing that feels very less than this game is the absence of a mechanism to reverse the situation quickly, such as super unit or superweapon. Indeed, it is not known in the Age of Empires II world because basically such weapons have not been found. In addition, a simple game system makes the mechanism to turn things around quickly only in the fantasy.

Sensation After Playing Back

After 12 years of not playing the game Age of Empires II, this game was still causing a pleasant sensation and a sense of curiosity is big enough when we play. The fun of facing the challenges of the various game modes that existed was successful in taking our time. In fact, as we mentioned at the beginning, it does not feel we spent up to a dozen hours just to play this game!

Admittedly, the fewer RTS games that have been present in the last few years have made RTS fans' thirst for quality games to be unbearable. Age of Empires II was still able to satisfy the little thirst though only presents the look and the game system is simple, with the quality of the era of the 2000s. That is the impression for us during this game play.

Quite regrettably, the future of the Age of Empires series is still a big question now. In a period where new RTS games are quite rare, RTS fans certainly expect a continuation of the classic series that have pretty strong roots, including the Age of Empires series. Hopefully in the next few years, games such as Age of Empires is shining again and franchiselama which was popular in the world RTS can live again by bringing fresh ideas that can satisfy the thirst of RTS fans.

Nah pada pagi ini sebelum kita memasuki macro photography yang part #33, sambil menunggunya saya akan membagi sedikit hiburan tentang game kesukaan saya yaitu Age Of Empiris II. Pasti sabahat steemian sudah tau permainan ini, mungkin tidak asing bagi kita. Langsung saja kita simak seksama steemian.

Mungkin bagi para penggemar game ber-genre real time strategy, game Age of Empires tentunya sudah tidak asing lagi bagi pencinta game. Game RTS merupakan salah satu game populer di eranya yaitu pada tahun 1997 – 2007. Salah satu game dari seri tersebut yaitu Age of Empires II, bahkan bisa disebut sebagai salah satu game yang membawa perubahan besar di dunia RTS, termasuk beberapa hal baru yang disebut mempengaruhi dunia RTS hingga saat ini. 

Game Age of Empires II inilah yang kali ini akan menjadi tranding topik pada eranya ! Game ini dirilis pertama kali pada tahun 1999, game Age of Empires II: Age of Kings menjadi salah satu game terlaris di tahun tersebut. Bagaimana tidak ! Game tersebut mendapatkan dua expansion pack, The Conquerors yang dirilis di tahun 2000 dan The Forgotten yang disebut sebagai update “semi-official” serta baru dirilis saat Age of Empires II berumur 14 tahun! Wahh... luar biasa bukan steemian?

PERENCANAAN

Age of Empires II, bersama dengan expansion pack-nya, The Conquerors dan The Forgotten, mengusung timeline utama di era Middle Age hingga Reinassance. Lupakan senjata mutakhir yang ada di dunia saat ini! Anda hanya akan berhadapan dengan senjata-senjata yang sangat “primitif” di dalam game ini, seperti pedang,panah, dan lain sebagainya. Ya..! , pada masa-masa tersebut memang belum mengenal senjata modern yang ada saat ini! Sungguh menarik dan unik bukan steemian?

Di dalam permainan mode campaign, Anda akan mendapatkan misi yang terkait dengan beberapa tokoh penting di era tersebut, seperti Saladin, Genghis Khan, Atilla The Hun, dan William Wallace. Di beberapa misi, Anda akan langsung mengontrol tokoh-tokoh tersebut dan, tentu saja, tidak boleh membiarkan tokoh-tokoh tersebut terbunuh oleh pihak lawan. Kontrol atas tokoh jaman sejarah tersebut tentu saja menjadi salah satu poin menarik dari game ini.

Selain mode campaign itu juga, terdapat juga beberapa mode lain yang bisa dimainkan pemilik game ini, seperti Random Map dengan beberapa victory condition, mengejar raja pihak lawan di Regicide, serta beberapa mode lain seperti Deathmatch, King of The Hill, dan sebagainya. Mode-mode tersebut tentunya bisa menghabiskan banyak waktu Anda, termasuk untuk mengumpulkan sumber daya, membangun pasukan, dan meratakan kerajaan lawan. Bisa dibilang, Age of Empires II akan menghabiskan banyak waktu Anda ketika memainkannya. Hal itulah yang kami rasakan ketika kami tiba-tiba mendapati akun Steam kami telah menampilkan angka belasan jam hanya untuk bermain Game ini.

Apa yang Saya Sukai dari Game Age of Empires II?

Orang Desa

Salah satu unit yang paling berguna dalam game Age of Empires II yaitu Orang Desa. Banyak sekali fungsi yang bisa kita dapatkan dari unit tersebut, seperti mengumpulkan sumber daya di sekitar Anda, membangun bangunan, sampai berperang! Ya, Anda bisa memanfaatkan unit Anda untuk membantu pertahanan kota ketika mendapatkan serangan dari pihak lawan. Hal-hal itu membuat unit yang satu ini memiliki banyak kegunaan sepanjang permainan berlangsung. 

Selain itu juga, orang desa dalam game ini juga mengusung hal unik, yaitu respon mereka ketika Anda perintahkan untuk menjalankan suatu hal. Mereka bisa memberikan respon dengan berbagai bahasa sesuai dengan negara mereka! Hal unik tersebut memang terkesan sederhana, tetapi tetaplah suatu hal yang mungkin akan jarang sekali Anda temukan di game-game lain. Wow.. unik sekali bukan steemian?

Unit Spesial dari Masing-Masing Negara

Setiap negara yang ada di Age of Empires II memiliki unit perang khusus yang memang hanya bisa dihasilkan oleh negara tersebut saja. Unit spesial tersebut memilik bentuk yang bervariasi, mulai dari pasukan berkuda, pemanah, hingga bentuk-bentuk lain yang lebih eksotis, seperti War Elephant. Masing-masing unit spesial tersebut memiliki kelebihan tersendiri dan juga kelemahan tersendiri yang tentunya membuat Anda harus memikirkan matang-matang bagaimana memanfaatkan unit spesial tersebut secara maksimal.

FIRE SHIP

Satu unit perang ini bisa dikatakan cukup menarik dari game ini adalah Fire Ship. Di saat kebanyakan unit yang ada di dalam game ini mengandalkan serangan dari senjata yang bisa dibilang masih “primitif”, Fire Ship seakan menghadirkan sesuatu yang berbeda dan terkesan “agak modern”, yaitu flamethrower. Unit yang satu ini memiliki harga yang cenderung murah dan memiliki efektivitas yang cukup tinggi ketika digunakan untuk melawan unit naval lain.

Mengejar Raja yang Melarikan Diri di Regicide

Salah satu mode permainan yang ada di Age of Empires II, Regicide, mengharuskan Anda untuk membunuh raja dari pihak lawan untuk mengalahkannya. Raja umumnya akan berada di istana utama dari pihak lawan, sehingga tentu saja Anda akan berupaya untuk menghancurkan istana tersebut terlebih dahulu. Setelah istana pihak lawan hancur, raja akan keluar dari persembunyiannya. 

Satu hal menarik akan muncul ketika sang raja berhasil dipaksa keluar dari tempat persembunyiannya. Anda yang semula harus mengerahkan segenap pasukan untuk menghancurkan istana akan langsung beralih ke upaya mengejar raja yang melarikan diri. Terkadang proses mengejar raja ini akan menjadi suatu kejar-mengejar yang menyenangkan, terlebih lagi bila sang raja tidak memiliki tempat persembunyian baru, seperti Town Center atau istana lain. Tanpa kemampuan melakukan serangan sama sekali, sang raja tentunya hanya bisa berlari dan bersembunyi di celah-celah peta sembari menunggu ajal.

Sistem Permainan yang Sederhana

Age of Empires II bisa dikatakan memiliki sistem permainan dengan kompleksitas rendah yang sangat mudah mengerti oleh pemain RTS. Pihak pengembang game telah menyediakan fitur khusus yang akan memandu Anda membuka bangunan atau unit melalui diagram alur yang mudah dipahami. Anda bisa memanfaatkan diagram tersebut untuk secara cepat membuka unit atau bangunan yang mungkin Anda butuhkan untuk memenangkan permainan.

Selain itu, setiap negara dalam game ini memiliki unit dasar yang kurang lebih sama, sehingga kekuatan dari tiap-tiap negara akan berada di level yang sama, terlepas dari unit spesial yang dimiliki. Hal itu membuat game ini menyuguhkan permainan yang akan berimbang terlepas dari negara apapun yang Anda pilih. Secara umum, negara yang unggul di satu bidang akan memiliki kelemahan di bidang lain dan masing-masing negara akan memiliki metode untuk memanfaatkan kelemahan negara lain. Itulah kesederhanaan sistem yang membuat Age of Empires II menjadi suatu game yang menarik.

Apa yang Kami Benci dari Age of Empires II?

Unit monk merupakan unit yang cukup mengesalkan dalam game ini. Mengapa? Unit yang pada dasarnya merupakan unit bertipe support ternyata bisa dimanfaatkan untuk melakukan serangan masif ke pihak lawan melalui kemampuan khususnya, yaitu Convert. Lawan yang pandai memanfaatkan monk dengan kemampuan khususnya tersebut beserta beberapa upgrade di Monastery bisa jadi akan menyulitkan Anda karena unit-unit milik Anda bisa jadi akan berubah haluan dan menyerang Anda sendiri. Silent and looks innocent but deadly.

EMAS & BATU

Kedua jenis sumber daya ini akan Anda jumpai dalam jumlah yang sangat terbatas di map! Anda harus berhati-hati dalam memanfaatkan kedua sumber daya tersebut, terutama untuk stone karena bila Anda telah menghabiskan seluruh tambang di sekitar wilayah Anda dan masih membutuhkannya, mau tidak mau Anda harus mencarinya di tempat yang cukup jauh. Hal itu tentunya akan menghadirkan kesulitan tersendiri.

Di Game ini Emas, serupa dengan Batu, juga tersedia dalam jumlah yang terbatas di sekitar wilayah Anda. Selain dengan cara menambang, Anda masih bisa mendapatkan gold dengan beberapa hal lain, seperti mengumpulkan relic, memanfaatkan trade route, atau menukarnya dengan sumber daya lain di market. Walaupun begitu, kebutuhan Anda akan gold akan jauh di atas stone, sehingga jumlahnya yang terbatas di map di suatu titik akan menyulitkan perkembangan kerajaan Anda, terlebih bila Anda menghabiskannya terlalu cepat di awal permainan.

Watch Tower

Satu bangunan yang sepintas terlihat berguna, tetapi ternyata tidak seberguna yang dibayangkan adalah Watch Tower. Menara penjaga ini terlihat memiliki bentuk yang cukup meyakinkan untuk menjaga wilayah sekitarnya dari serangan pasukan pihak lawan. Namun, ketika pihak lawan benar-benar menyerang, Anda mungkin akan merasa bahwa Watch Tower tidaklah sehebat yang dibayangkan.Secara standar, Watch Tower memiliki akurasi dan damage yang rendah, yang membuatnya belum tentubisa menjaga wilayah Anda dari serangan pihak lawan. Untungnya, dengan berbagai upgrade, Watch Tower bisa menjadi bangunan yang cukup berguna. Namun, untuk meningkatkan kegunaan dari Watch Tower, ada harga yang harus dibayar, yaitu biaya riset untuk meningkatkan kemampuannya yang kadang terasa cukup besar.

Tidak Ada Mekanisme untuk Membalikkan Keadaan dengan Cepat

Setelah banyak memainkan game RTS dari era setelah Age of Empires II, satu hal yang terasa sangat kurang dari game ini adalah tidak adanya mekanisme untuk membalikkan keadaan dengan cepat, seperti unit super atau superweapon. Memang, hal itu tidak dikenal di dunia Age of Empires II karena pada dasarnya senjata seperti itu memang belum ditemukan. Selain itu, sistem permainan yang sederhana menjadikan mekanisme untuk membalikkan keadaan dengan cepat hanya berada di angan-angan saja.

Sensasi Setelah Memainkannya Kembali

Setelah 12 tahun tidak memainkan game Age of Empires II, game ini ternyata masih menimbulkan sensasi yang menyenangkan dan rasa penasaran yang cukup besar ketika kami mainkan. Serunya menghadapi tantangan dari berbagai mode permainan yang ada ternyata berhasil menyita waktu kami. Bahkan, seperti yang telah kami sebutkan di awal, tidak terasa kami menghabiskan waktu hingga belasan jam hanya untuk bermain game ini!

Patut diakui, semakin sedikitnya game RTS yang hadir dalam beberapa tahun terakhir ini membuat rasa haus fans RTS akan game berkualitas menjadi tidak tertahankan. Age of Empires II ternyata masih bisa memuaskan sedikit rasa haus tersebut walaupun hanya menyuguhkan tampilan dan sistem permainan yang sederhana, dengan kualitas era tahun 2000-an. Itulah yang menjadi kesan tersendiri bagi kami selama bermain game ini. 

Cukup disayangkan bukan, masa depan dari seri Age of Empires sendiri hingga saat ini masih menjadi tanda tanya besar. Di masa di mana game RTS baru cukup jarang dijumpai, penggemar RTS tentu saja mengharapkan adanya kelanjutan dari seri-seri klasik yang memiliki akar cukup kuat, termasuk dari seri Age of Empires ini. Semoga dalam beberapa tahun ke depan, game-game sejenis Age of Empires ini kembali bersinar dan franchiselama yang sempat populer di dunia RTS bisa hidup kembali dengan mengusung ide-ide segar yang dapat memuaskan rasa haus penggemar RTS.
