There are lots of interesting cases of insurance.

Some of them well known and some of them not as much.
So I decided to share it with you...

#1 MONA LISA

Mona Lisa is literally priceless.
Insurance valuation for it is $100million!
However, insurance was not concluded because the cost of the highest security precautions was less than that of the premiums.

#2 THE STUPIDEST CONTRACT

Max-Hervé George, French entrepreneur, has insurance policy that allows him to trade on stocks based on previous week's prices. It was declared as the stupidest contract ever signed, and it can end with him owning that insurance company.

#3 PROVE YOU WERE ABDUCTED BY AN ALIEN

There is an insurance company in a town in England which insured 30000 people around Europe from the damage that residents from another planet might cause, but they would have to submit a valid evidence with that.
Since there's many movies and tv series about werewolves and ghosts, one hotel, in England as well, came to an idea to insure it's employees and guests from the damage these creatures (ghosts, vampires, werewolves) might cause.
People say that they like staying in these type of hotels because they feel much safer.

#4 A GUY WHO INSURED HIS CIGARS THEN SMOKED THEM

There was a lawyer who bought a box of expensive cigars and insured them from all kinds of disasters.
That includes flood, storm, and of course - fire. After a few months passed he filed a claim for payment of damages, because his cigars "disappeared in series of small fires". Of course they rejected his request because it was cleat that he smoked those cigars.
However, the judge ruled in favor of this lawyer so the insurance company had to pay him because in the contract it wasn't clearly stated of what kind of fire these cigars are insured.
So learn from this and don't sign anything without studying it thoroughly. 😆

#5 CAUTION!! COCONUTS FALLING!!

British travel agency Club Direct began issuing policies to cover injuries caused by falling coconuts.
Statistics showed that 150 people – or ten times the number of victims from shark attacks – are killed every year by falling coconuts.
In Sri Lanka, a Club Direct customer was calmly sitting under a palm tree reading a book when a coconut fell on her head, knocking her out cold. She was hospitalized.
Luckily, the insurance company paid out.
