Police Deploy 5 Thousand Personnel Guard Officers Pertamina Workers

The Metro Jaya Police Department deployed 5,000 personnel to secure the demonstrations of thousands of PT Pertamina workers belonging to the Pertamina Workers Union Federation (FAPPB).
The action took place in front of SOE Ministry Building, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan and Taman Pandang Monas, Jakarta, Friday (20/7).
"The mass of about 1000's and had already met Mrs. Minister of SOEs (Rini Soemarno)," said Head of Police Public Relations of Metro Jaya Argo Yuwono at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Friday (20/7).
After a longmarch from the Ministry of SOEs, the mass entered the headquarters of PT Pertamina.
They voiced a number of demands among them asking SOE Minister Rini Soemarno to resign from his post.
"If you can not afford to work, Mrs. Rini comes down, there are still many people who are willing to listen to the demand of their people," said General Bramantio, chairman of Pertamina Good Brotherhood, in front of SOE Ministry Building.
PT Pertamina has ensured that operations in the upstream and downstream sectors will not be hampered by FSPPB demonstrations today.
"Operation, distribution and service to the community are running normally," said Pertamina Corporate Communication Vice President Adiatma Sardjito to CNNIndonesia (dot) com.
Management, continued Adiatma, appreciated the differences of opinion that occurred among workers. Workers who have taken action have requested permission to the company through their supervisor.
