New technology innovations often come from Crowdfunding technology.

What is Crowdfunding?

Basically, it’s a method of using the internet to poll a large segment of the population (visitors to the website) to see if they are willing to financially support a certain product. It is a form of pre-selling a product or business ideas. Crowdfunding is usually conducted on platforms like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or GoFundMe. Each of these platforms are similar but contain some essential differences for how they can best be used. In general, Kickstarter and Indiegogo orient more towards business ideas or product pitches. Meanwhile, GoFundMe is more focused on charity or raising money for social movements.

Crowdfunding is a powerful application of new technology that allows the people to fund ideas independent of any third party. Instead of having to go through a newspaper or third party advisor, the individual can financially support whatever ideas they are looking to further. Although it is not used in this manner regularly, it is easy to see how crowdfunding platforms could be applied to social or political issues. In fact, we are already seeing this through the campaign on GoFundMe to fund the wall on the southern border of the United States of America. We exist in a fascinating time where technology is giving us opportunities like never before. In these situations we have unique opportunities. However, in order to take advantage, education is necessary.

Zach Smith from Funded Today is here to break this down. Funded Today exists to help organizations or individuals use and understand Crowdfunding platforms. Zach is a serial entrepreneur who began to have huge success using crowdfunding to provide his clients with more money for their business growth ideas. This has propelled Funded Today into the spotlight and helped them raise over $250M on crowdfunding platforms.

On today’s show, Zach and I talk about the idea that Crowdfunding platforms are a monetary expression of the collective consciousness. We chat about the social movements that can be created and funded thanks to these platforms. Check out the show here:

In today’s world, it is quite possible to use New Technology for every aspect of creating and furthering a message. With the advent of new media like Podcasting, creating a video channel, or blogging, it is incredibly easy to broadcast a message. With the advent of crowdfunding technology, it is easier than ever to finance these campaigns as well. Once these ideas are a bit more mainstream, it is easy to see how projects and ideas can get funded relatively quickly. If the collective consciousness awakens and realizes its power, there will be a new world overnight. It will be possible for individuals to vote with their wallets on whatever projects and ideas they want to support.
