How Failure can Help you be more successful on Steemit and in your daily life

in #education7 years ago (edited)

We all are used to seeing successful people -examples presidents, film actors, great sportsmen/women , movie stars , entrepreneurs etc . However, have we ever asked ourselves if life was always rosy for all these people? The reality, however, is that if you personally know most of these people you will know that they failed many times -however what made them different from others is that they always come back: Persistence and hard work. Put succinctly, they never quit. One good example is one of the greatest United States President:

Abraham Lincoln

Born into poverty, Lincoln was faced with defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections, twice failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown. Below is Lincoln's road to the White House:
• 1816 His family was forced out of their home. He had to work to support them.
• 1818 His mother died.
• 1831 Failed in business.
• 1832 Ran for state legislature - lost.
• l832 Also lost his job - wanted to go to law school but couldn't get in.
• 1833 Borrowed some money from a friend to begin a business and by the end of the year he was bankrupt. He spent the next 17 years of his life paying off this debt.
• 1834 Ran for state legislature again - won.
• 1835 Was engaged to be married, sweetheart died and his heart was broken.
• 1836 Had a total nervous breakdown and was in bed for six months.
• 1838 Sought to become speaker of the state legislature - defeated.
• 1840 Sought to become elector - defeated.
• 1843 Ran for Congress - lost.
• 1846 Ran for Congress again - this time he won - went to Washington and did a good job.
• 1848 Ran for re-election to Congress - lost.
• 1849 Sought the job of land officer in his home state - rejected.
• 1854 Ran for Senate of the United States - lost.
• 1856 Sought the Vice-Presidential nomination at his party's national convention - get less than 100 votes.
• 1858 Ran for U.S. Senate again - again he lost.
• 1860 Elected president of the United States.

In light of the aforementioned points, we should ask ourselves why we easily give up? Why do we focus on successful people and want to be like them without being ourselves? Here are some few points:

Accept and learn from Failure: to succeed in life, you have to accept your failure and learn from it. Be complaisant and not complacent to the issues. If you remove pride, accept that you made a mistake which led to failure, learn from it , then you will be in the position to do better and thus succeed. This relates to character too because failure can build a better character especially if you accept it and change.

Keep steeming to more success: Many people are giving up daily on steemit or their projects because of lack of success- especially when they compare themselves to other people on trending pages or on top projects. My message to you is : accept your failure/mistakes, learn from your failure (read successful people posts or study their strategy and learn from it) , be patience and most importantly, never give up

Most of us need hard work to get success in life while few of them are very much lucky that they touch the peak of success with in a short period of time.

That has always been so in life...however never give up is the key.

Very motivational post! It makes your mind avoid all the bad thoughts in your mind and focus on the bright side!
Think positive and never give up! Cheers!

Wow Lincoln was relentless. He ran for public office so many times and lost and was bed ridden with anxiety. That's crazy?! I like how you relate it to Steem. People think that post once and will make hunreds of dollars. We have to be consistent in our daily quality content and grow our following base to achieve success on this platform. The great City of Rome wasn't built overnight. Thanks for the post.

A very good comment, thanks and more success to you.

Wow this is a good one especially what Lincoln went through before being successful. After reading this, I wonder why we keep on complaining of lack of success here? patience and hardwork is the key...steem power too. Thanks for this motivational post, upped.

thanks man @charles1, this is just the post i needed right now in my life, not necessarily for steemit but my personal business. Thanks again for giving me hope that if i can just be more patient and work harder, it will just turn out fine. Lincoln story was such a lifter.

Thanks Man

Welcome and more success to you...Never give up, just work smarter

Very good point indeed, thanks for your comment and more success to you

Tomas Edison failed a thousand times before inventing the light bulb, his words about it were: 'It was not a thousand failed attempts, it was an invention of a thousand steps', as you always say we see the success of others and we want to reach the effortlessly, without Realize all that these people did to get where they are. So to persevere for our goals. A lot of success for you

Very good comment, thanks and keep steeming to more success.

Beautiful article and inspiring. You haven't failed yet until you stop trying. To succeed, you must be prepared for setbacks and you must have a never give up attitude. You can make it if you don't give up. Also watch who you associate with. You will then be able to turn your failure into success.
Once again, great article!

Very good point indeed, thanks for your comment and more success to you

Most of my articles get little attention but yesterday one was noticed by @curie and gained me the upvote. It didnt give me much in terms of $$ but it sure gave me some incentive to do more and be noticed again.

We need to all keep trying and getting better at writing, and those little successes will get better.

Point , I agree with you, thanks for your comment and more success to you

Abraham Lincolin's life story attracted me, from what you have said in this wonderful post about the life of the American president, certainly he set himself a goal and he worked with perseverance for its achievement.
this goal is to win the US Presidential Elections.

according to the law of attraction, thinking about the objectives leads you to work hard to achieve them.

@charles1, I greatly agree with you. As a matter of fact, I posted something related to this topic today.

Just like you've said, we should:

Be complaisant and not complacent to the issues. If you remove pride, accept that you made a mistake which led to failure, learn from it , then you will be in the position to do better and thus succeed.

Many of us in our personal lives, as well as on steemit; we take failure too personal that will end up in fear and complacency. But relating with the story of one of the Heroic figures that ever lived in America, Abraham Lincoin, we would learn that failure is not final. He never allowed the series of failures he experienced to make him give up on his dream, rather he became more resolved and committed to achieving greatness, which he eventually did attain...1860 he was elected as president of the United States.

Thanks for sharing this inspirational post.

Very good point and welcome to steemit. See my older posts for tips on how to succeed here. I wish you success

Alright....thanks.

I thought failure before was a bad thing no one should ever experience in their lives. Guess what, I'm a fool to think even in a second that you can't fail even once. One of the things I learned in life is when failure comes, be ready to learn from it. That lessons we learn every time we fail makes us wiser and stronger. It reminds us how lucky we are to experience the ups and downs of life.

Point!!!I agree
