CLASSES, THEATER AND FUN!

My most respectful greetings friends (as) Steemit, on this day I want to share one of my experiences as a professional teacher.

This Friday, February 23 of this year, we are once again my students of the Fe y Alegría Technical School María Concepción Carroz de Pérez in the theater class, chair belonging to the "Group of Creation, Recreation and Production" that are implemented in all the lycées that teach General Media Education; It is necessary to emphasize that this meeting was full of allergy, laughter and fun.

The TEATRO class, directed by me who is the tutor in charge, aimed at offering the student the possibility of knowing the fundamental aspects of theater and among these the corporal expression, the development of the imagination as well as an assertive communication with himself and with the others, through a practical exercise that will help him to lose stage fright.

This exercise consisted of presenting them with a variety of hats, caps, wigs and implements to be put on their head and from there to create their character; flow creativity and enjoyment set the tone in the meeting and was such a success of the East that my students did not want it to end.

This makes me think and analyze once again the importance of theater as a resource within the education system, theater or performing arts taken as a value with great potential can act as an element of interdisciplinarity, transversality and integration of the curriculum and extract from it all its educational potential.

Thus, among the subjects that have the potential to generate new learning environments, theater is supposed to be located, since theater is considered in teaching as a body of knowledge centered on history and literature or on the development of acting techniques, having the ability to be a didactic tool to achieve the objectives of other subjects, being a subject in itself that provides knowledge of history and being, and on the other hand as a show: artistic product.

In this sense, he was able to express that there are many advantages offered by the Theater within education, between
these:

  • The student learns to use language and to reach new modes of communication.
  • Create a climate free of fear and fear of ridicule.
  • Develop the student's own identity.
  • Strengthen self-image, self-esteem.
  • Develop self-confidence and not just share your emotions.
  • Create interactions and break down barriers that arise in the face of communication.
  • It allows the student to focus on the process of research, learning, creation.
  • It involves the appearance of roles (actor, director, set designer, critic, etc.)
  • It allows the student to become involved kinestically and emotionally in the lessons.
  • They produce a total response, a set of verbal and non-verbal responses to a stimulus or a group of stimuli.
  • It provides the opportunity to perform auditory, visual, motor and verbal activities, enabling the subject of learning to have experiences on all levels of his person and not limiting learning to a mere intellectual experience,
  • It facilitates the student to get into the story and interact with concepts, characters or ideas.
  • It promotes a greater understanding of the material and increases the understanding of the texts.

Conclusion

The use of the Theater within the educational system stimulates the imagination and creative thinking, encourages critical thinking and a higher use of cognitive processes, the Theater uses multiple intelligences and also acting as a connecting bridge between the competences in linguistic communication or the social and civic competence, and cultural and artistic competence.
