Space to Draw

So, now I have a nice new drawing desk, but ironically I'm still drawing mostly in other places. Before I got the desk, I'd often draw in my bedroom - away from the distractions and noise of the living room.
Here is an outline I'd started:

And this is where I'd often end up working on it:

I have a gaming-capable desktop computer in the living room (so do most others in the family - one couch facing a seldom-used TV, three desks, three computers and six monitors). But this is my bolt-hole for a bit of hermit time.

Unfortunately, people still want a piece of my attention:

But for the most part, I do get some quiet there.
For large drawings like this, the table is great:

It's tilted, so the cat isn't as likely to try and sit on it (your attention is on that piece of paper, therefore I should also be on that piece of paper). It's next to the living room, but not right in it. I find that when I'm just sketching smaller things, though, I'm still hiding away in a quiet corner to do it.

I first started drawing about 20 years ago, but never took it up seriously, or even regularly. Drawing is always a struggle; I'm not a natural. I have to work and rework every line. So, I'm doing my best to set it up to make it regular and perhaps, with practise, for it to feel a little more natural.

Sort:

Your cat looks exactly like mine, except mine has a half of the tail bitten off, it loves to sleep at my keyboard when I am at the computer for some reason.

Cool! I love tabby cats, they always have a bold personality. I bet the half bitten tail has a story behind it.

Mine loves the computer too. If I draw, she sits on the pad, if I'm on the computer, she does this:

Nice cat, yes I found mine an evening on my way back from work sitting behind some waste bins where it hid as some dogs tried to get to it, so since it has been my friend.
