DIY crochet t-shirt yarn basket

in #diy7 years ago

Hey, steemians!

I've caught a cold and I'm staying at home for a few days. I was so crazily bored that I was scrolling through pinterest and decided to try some DIY pojects. The first on my list is this crochet t-shirt yarn basket.

Since I have made more than 1000 t-shirts for my clients in these years, I have kilos of waste jersey fabric. You can use old t-shirts or buy t-shirt yarn in many yarn stores.

I started by cutting those fabrics in 2cm wide strips as long as possible.

After that you should make a circle in which you make 10 slip stitches. And join this round with a slip stitch. Then make 2 chain stitches.

After that make 2 double stitches of pevious round and in the and join with a slip stitch.

Then again make 2 chain stitches, but the make 2 double stitches of pevious round and then only 1, and again 2 ... It goes like 2-1-2-1-2-1..

The next circle depends how thick and even your yarn is, in my case I kept woking with 2-1-2-1 pattern, but maybe you should conside 2-1-1-2-1-1... pattern.

When the circle is in your desirable size, start working upwards by making double crochet stitches 1:1 to the bottom.

After 3 rows of the dark blue material finished and I decided to make some gray rows:

And my favourite colour is white, so I had to make some rows from the white jersey as well. Also I made handles on the second white row with chain stitches. I suggest to make them a little smaller than you wish, because on the third row they wil stretch longer.
