Coronavirus disease

in #corona5 years ago

These types of viruses that typically affect humans, birds, and mammals. Doctors associate them with pneumonia, common cold, bronchitis, and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), and they can also affect the gut.

Over the last 60 to 70 years, scientists have found that coronaviruses can infect mice, rats, dogs, cats, horses, pigs, and cattle. Sometimes, these animals can transmit coronaviruses to humans.

  • The name of “coronavirus” comes from the crown-like projections on their surfaces.
  • “Corona” in Latin means “halo” or “crown.”
  • it is known as COVID19 virus

Common types include

229E (alpha coronavirus)
NL63 (alpha coronavirus)
OC43 (beta coronavirus)
HKU1 (beta coronavirus)

How It spread?

COVID-19 is a new disease and we are still learning how it spreads, the severity of illness it causes, and to what extent it may spread in the many countries in the world.

The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

  • between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 5 to 6 feet).
  • Respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
  • These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

Now Question has arisen that can someone spread the virus without being sick?

  • Yes If People are thought to be most contagious when they are most symptomatic.
  • Some spread might be possible before people show symptoms; there have been reports of this occurring with this new coronavirus, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

This virus that causes COVID-19 seems to be spreading easily and sustainably in the community in some affected geographic areas.

symptoms

it may appear after 5 to 15 days

  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

Treatments and Prevention

Scientists cannot easily find any vaccine or drug for human coronaviruses in the laboratory unlike the rhinovirus, which is another cause of the common cold. This makes it difficult to prevent the impact of the coronavirus on public health.

There is no cure, so treatments include self-care and over-the-counter (OTC) medication. People can take several steps, including:

  • drinking enough water
  • avoiding smoking and smoky areas
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • resting and avoiding overexertion
  • taking medicine for pain and fever as per doctor prescription.
  • using a clean humidifier or cool mist vaporizer

If You are affected by covid19 then firstly Call ahead to a healthcare professional if you develop a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or difficulty breathing, and have been in close contact2 with a person known to have COVID-19 or if you live in or have recently traveled to an area with ongoing spread. Tell your healthcare professional about your recent travel or contact. Your healthcare professional will work with your state’s public health department to determine if you need to be tested for COVID-19.
