Harry Potter - Happy 20th Anniversary

in #books7 years ago (edited)

I am one of those lucky ones who grew up with Harry Potter. Every fan who has experienced this would understand, how big a part of our childhood these books and movies were and how well we related to the emotions the characters felt in each book.

Twenty years ago, on this day, the first HP book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was released. From then on, it has been a wild roller coaster ride of emotions, suspense and craziness. No book I read has ever been able to enthrall me like the HP series, so much to a point that I used to forget to eat or sleep, where I could think of nothing else, where the real world was virtually non-existent and the characters in the books were more real than anything. HP literally changed my life around.

I learned the English language and how to use computers because of these books. I understood what passion feels like and how hardwork always get rewarded from these books.

There are no words to describe how well spun the plot of the story is. How a person could create such an elaborate world out of nothing is beyond me. A huge thank you to J.K Rowling for giving us these books and making our lives so colorful.

Resteem and pass on to all HP fans here!

Hahah..I JUST used that filter too! haha. When I visited the Harry Potter studios, we bought a complete set of hardcover books at the gift shop. SOOO heavy, but it was so worth lugging them around England :P

YAY! Every fan will use the filter today!
My husband gifted me the complete set on my birthday..
Aww,, you went to the studios! I soo want to go there...
I have a personalized wand with my name on it, that's my favorite HP goodie.. Sorry I'm bragging..

WOW @jenlavallee.. your page itself says 'Definitely a gryffindor'. Followed!!!

Haha, yup...use Potter fans need to stick together! The studio was soooo cool, definitely a trip of a lifetime.
A personalized wand is pretty cool!! Where did you get it?

I know, right??
Wow.. Was there an Ollivander's there? How was the butterbeer?
The wand was also a gift. My brother-in-law got it online from Etsy..
You know, you can get the ties really cheap at Wish.com. I got my gryffindor tie for 2$ including shipping.

Yeah, the Ollivander's shop was a room with all the "wand boxes"...but they weren't really boxes, they were blocks of wood painted to look like wand boxes. And lots of the names painted in the "box label" were those of the cast a crew (like you could find the Daniel Radcliff box, for example).
Haha, the butterbeer was sweet!

Oh I see.. I heard there would be an old guy selling the wands and that you will also get to try wands just like Harry did. Is that true?

Nice.. Lucky you... :) :)
Next, you could visit the wizarding world of HP here at Los Angeles. :)

When I was there, they didn't have that. Maybe it's new, or maybe that's in Harry Potter world in Orlando?

Oh yea, probably...

Anyway, I'm so happy to meet a fellow potterhead here on Steemit..

Happy 20th anniversary :)

Great Post! That is so neat that these stories changed your life in such a great way, especially learning English and how to use computers. That is so cool!

I didn't know there was a Snapchat filter!!! I will def. have to check that out

Thankyou so much @samkitty... :)
These books have a strong influence on the readers.. I am pretty sure every fan has had his/her life changed in some way by HP..

Yeah do check out soon... Snapchat filters don't stay that long right..

Nice. My wife just showed me that snapchat filter with the harry potter.

I binge watched the entire collection last weekend :P I know how you feel.

Yay! It is such a blessing that the movies are just as great as the books.. many a time, when books are made into movies, it is disappointing ..

Yes, true that. Also, it's faster to just watch the movies instead of reading the books again. Not that I haven't read them several times :P I'm sure all potterheads have

Absolutely!!

Are you on Steemit chat?

Yup !
Just messaged you there.
