Lisbon in 4 days (part 4 )

Hello Steamians

For our last day we went to Cascais, baixa,Chiado and Bairro alto. In the meantime we already admired a lot of culture and we thought it was time for a bit of nature. So, in the morning we took off to Cascais. In Cascais you can take a bus, especially for tourists, which will drive you along all the attractions of the village. We decided to visit the Boca de inferno, a cliff formation, to the west of Cascais. It’s free and there are stairs so you have a better view between the rocks. We thought it was so wonderful that we wanted to stay here for a while, you have to know we are from Belgium so we are not used to see such a blue sea, but among all those tourists that’s not so pleasant. Therefore, we decided to climb the rocks and sit by the side of the water. Well, we have definitely been there for 2h because it was so peaceful and beautiful. Afterwards, we went to a fish restaurant next to the rocks. When, we opened the door the first thing we saw were living lobsters. At that moment we should have known it wasn’t going to be a budget-friendly place but we were so hungry… eventually we did found one thing on the menu that wasn’t that expensive, it was a dish with rice, scampi and a white fish. It was one of the best things I had ever had for lunch.

The rest of the day we went back to Lisbon. We visited the Elevador de Santa Justa. The elevator is entirely made of iron and designed by a student of Gustave Eiffel. I truly enjoyed it because it was absolutely something different from what we had already visited. In the elevator are also guided tours and when we were there a Spanish guide was giving information, I am currently learning Spanish, I thought it would be nice to listen to it and nobody noticed something until my friend called my name to go on because he found it embarrassing to listen with them. At that moment the guide spoke to us and then it was really embarrassing… he should have just been silent ;) But I did understand some interesting facts about the elevator.

Last but not least we went to Igreja do Carmo. Unfortunately, it got almost entirely destroyed by the earthquake but it still has a small museum that’s very interesting because you don’t have to read text after text but can see a lot like mummies, tombs, jewelry and jars from the past.

So, did was my trip to Lisbon and I definitely will go back in a few years because the city stole my heart. Literally, everything is amazing there! The people are friendly, the food is delicious, the culture is stunning and the subway is so well organized which makes your trip more pleasant.
If you haven’t been there already make sure you write it on your to do list!!
