begging in Denmark.

in #begging8 years ago

When I was a kid, we used to have a running joke about begging. Where you'd tap yourself on the arm, while asking for a dollar for a cup of coffee. (You know, like for a shot of heroin.) That was the only type of person, we could imagine to be a beggar. Someone with a drug problem. So we sort of made fun of them.

  • In reality though. There are a thousand different reasons, for why people become beggars. Some did drugs beforehand, while others started afterwards, as to be able to live with the humiliation. And some again don't touch drugs at all.

I used to be addicted to amphetamin, and spend a couple of years in rehab because of it. But thanks to that, I've met a good amount of people, that had spent a good deal of their life, asking for help from total strangers. Sure, once in a while the money would go to drugs. But you never saw them or their pets starve to death.

As to move on, to how it is in Denmark.

It's illegal to "beg" for money in Denmark. You know, "ask a stranger for help on the street". Though not many people get assaulted by the cops for doing so, they still risk getting punished with a fine. (Not a prison. just a fine to make their lives even harder)

While eastern europeans have been comming to Denmark to do exactly that, for many years, the recent media propaganda on the "immigrant crisis", have resulted in more talk about them begging as well. Sure, some of them, do it for the hustling. Where they steal from people. But most of them actually behave. Though, you know mainstream media, if it can use something to make people emotional and fearful, to get more clicks, they will. So while it's only a tiny amount who steal and rob, they will cover it, as if it was the majority.

This have resulted in enough fear in the general population, that politicians are now acting on it. They want to make it more punishable, and to do so, they need more police. - Yeah, funny how that works. Media blows something out of proportion, population fear it, politicians get more power. - But what no one talks about, since it's all about the evil immigrants is that it's everyone, that gets punished for it. Not just the thieves, and violent. But everyone else as well.

  • So the people in desperat need of help, will have no other choice but to start finding other methods. Which like we see everywhere else, will end up with even more violent crime. - Really desperate people with no other way of surviving, tends to do that, when you drag them in a corner, where it's either "starve, or steal".

Now. I don't generally give beggars any money. I really don't want to reward people for giving up, so I prefer the people playing music, juggling, or what ever skills they use to catch my attention. - Some of the best music I've ever heard, have been from street performers, just trying to earn a tiny amount to survive.
However. I have had some really great conversations before, with beggars. Where I ended up coming back with food, a six-pack of beer, heck, even an actual cup of coffee. Different circumstances takes people to the same place in life. And I try not to judge people, before having heard their story. And even then, I try not to judge them. It's not like there's only my, or someone elses way to live.

Anyway. Just wanted to make a short rant about it, as I've seen the subject brought up a bit too much lately.
-Take care, Michael.

The first homeless man i met as a child had war medals on his jacket. He fought for his country and they threw him on the streets. The leaders who implement such rules need to be killed. Violently and without mercy. How many more poor innocents are going to shed blood or die in pits because of greed? there is no excuse for a man to serve his nation then end up homeless. We need to stop thinking the people with no money are the ones taking the piss they are not. The banks that steal billions and launder even more billions are. The politicians who move a nations capital to tax havens are. The corporate elite that think their actions will bare no consequence do. The media elites like Murdoch who spread fear and lies to divide and suppress. These people need removing. These people are operating under a system of ignorance where if they pretend they don't know what was happening they won't be held accountable and as of now they are not. Lets change that?

I just want to get rid of the system, that allows for "leaders" to implement those things.

  • The only people ever drawn to positions of state power, are those kinds of people. No matter what they say. (That's my experience anyway. - And history pretty much backs it up.)

But true. Loads of "veterans" get ditched in the street.

actually i think it comes from people raised to be leaders or educated for that purpose, if we were to allow community members to have a chance to rise i think it would improve things! Also like @dantheman said, a voting system when people can vote againts aswell as for a candidate then we can see how the population feels about said candidate!

I still wouln't vote though. I have other things to do, than pick a master, that want to tell me how to live, and how to spend my money. I can easily do that on my own. ^_^

It's why I don't vote, or pay taxes.

not voting changes nothing i always have said there should be a None of the above option! then your vote can still be counted and matter. If you have 3 piles of shit and i tell you, you can only choose 1 pile of shit to have which one do you pick? None. Its still a pile of shit ^^ thats why i dont vote!

Not sure I really follow what you're saying.

  • Do you think voting matters, or do you think that I shouldn't chose the pile of shit?

Choose shit lol

Starve OR Steal This is where I'm at, what other options do I have beyond suffering?

It's really hard to understand how we let ourselves have people begging in the streets for change while we send money with no strings, accountability, or purpose, to war. It makes you realize what's really important. Problem, Reaction, Solution seems to be working wonders on all of us :(

Yeah, it sometimes makes me hate humans. - But then other people show their true colors, and actually do help them out, with giving them jobs, time, homes, and stuff like that. (Though, those stories I get from other countries. Not so much from Denmark, unfortunately.)

Crypto panning doesn't work quite as well. Would rather make 20 bucks a day on the street than 400 in one day ONCE and most likely less than 10 cents crypto begging A DAY =P LOL

I don't much care, how people earn their money, actually. ^_^

I care if they make anything for their efforts or not =P

Well true. as I wrote, I don't just hand out money to people, that don't show me why I should support them. :D

  • That'd just bite them in the ass in the long run. :D

You should support me because I stood up to the free Mason pedophile running my hometown because my grandfather used to be a grandmaster. I didn't lock him up but I stopped him! =)

this is everywhere .........

so is corruption? what we are supposed to shut the fuck up and not talk about it? or we talk about it and fucking change things? if you want to do nothing and say nothing then you are part of the problem. Personally i plan on being apart of a solution!

Does not make it less relevant though.

Not we such life such
