Personally, I would say 'Emergency' is high blood pressure time, prayer time, and a time to be courageous.

These were the things my mum felt as my aunt was taken into the theatre room for operation in General Hospital, Aba.

In 2013, aunt favour was pregnant for her second child. The time came for her to register for antenatal, she opted for maternity. My mum was against this but she refused, her reason being that prayers were also offered there. Mum already knows aunt as a religious person, so she allowed her.

As time passed, the due date for delivery came. My aunt left with mum to the maternity for delivery. After few hours, I called mum to know how she was faring, and was told her water just broke, which means in no time baby should be out healthy and hearty.

After two hours, mum called me and I rushed my phone to receive the good news, unfortunately, that was not the case. Mum narrated that the the baby was too big, had got stuck in between my aunt's legs and unable to move again as a result of weakness.

At this point, mum was upset about not going to the hospital as she advised. She stopped the midwives while she rushed my aunt to a nearby hospital with the help of a man that lived in the compound. She was rejected at the hospital and was directed to the general hospital.

When they arrived nurses took her to the emergency room and soon afterwards she was set up for operation, after protocols have been observed.

Few hours later, a doctor came out and reported that my aunt survived, but weak, while the baby was lost. He frowned at the choice of maternity, and said, that most of them lack competent hands and facilities when situations turn into emergencies.

Dear women, endeavor to go to hospitals for better supervision when pregnant. This avoids and arrests casualties. Going through operation do not make you less of a Hebrew woman. It is God who has also given doctors knowledge.
