Ezeama Waterfall- Source of The Ancient Urashi River (Part 2)

in #adventure7 years ago (edited)

Few days ago, I posted on my travel into an amazing waterfall and source of the the Ancient Urashi River that cuts across many communities in Imo State. As earlier stated,

The popular Urashi river has its root from a waterfall in Ezeama (Water God's Alter) 183m above sea level in Dikenafai, Imo State South East Nigeria.
Entrance to Ezeama where you find the waterfall source of Urashi river is quite narrow and steep with thick bushy pathways & sounds of so many untamed animals. I was lucky to have gone with so many guides who took me on an epic adventure of a lifetime! So Journey with me into the enclave of the historical Ezeama waterfall & source of the Ancient Urashi River.

See post here

This next episode is a continuation of the same epic journey into the ancient enclave of Ezeama waterfall. Be aware that we are in the dry season as such the source of the water is routed in another direction meaning the waters at Ezeama waterfall is shabby but very active during the raining season which is in few months time and I have plans to return for a better shot. However, journey with me into the location of the Ezeama waterfall where the ancient Urashi River originates from.

If you look carefully, you find a very huge mass of rock and clay soils plus white sandy soils which has been like this for hundreds of years.

Looking up some locals are catching their fun and admiring the peek. However, uppermost area is where the River originates from rocks above and people are not allowed to get to that location. However, to get their will mean climbing the steep dangerous path of which no one is ready to undertake.

Looking back you find many encravings on the walls and some date over 100 years from locals and tourists.

When you are down here the surrounding overwhelms you and a little sound you make is echoed around. You have a feeling of being out of civilization. No sound of cars, trains, etc except sounds of wild animals and birds.

Helping out with fetching some drinking water. The spring waters here are very clean and good for drinking and it is belived it has a powerful healing effect and source for natural fertility. So many tourists come here to fetch the spring water for use at home.

If you observe closely, you find huge root like ropes. Those are roots from huge trees above which are more than 300 years old and their roots are source of the waters dripping down below.

The soil here is very white and pure

Having a taste of the clean healing waters of Ezeama for purity and future fertility. Glad to have caught a big steemian. Smiles ;) It should also be noted that some locals do come here to do their laundry and bath in the spring water which is very refreshing

Time to go. Helping out a local carry a bucket of water up the high stairs which is not an easy venture. Gave up later ;)

Had to handover the water as I couldn't take the risk. Climbing back to civilization. Should be noted that most kids visiting first time do cry a lot because of fear of the deep steep pathways making the trip for them later a memorable one.

Feeling on top of the world having made it all down to this ancient waterfall & back up! I am so glad i did it for steemit as part of my good contents. Plans to take @mammasitta along during Spring/Raining season when this ancient location is very active and the fall very noisy and forceful so we get lost together ;) !

Even the locals usually have a sense of relief after the long walk down and up from the great Ezeama waterfall. Thanks for joining me in my epic journey and I will be sending a vlog of this journey in my final episode. So keep following.
