An annual whale carnage in the Faroe Islands turns its sea into red

The images show this tradition, which has been going on for more than 4 centuries. These whales are filled with "flyers" on the shores of the island, while the inhabitants are covered with white weapons, and the water turns red.

After the chase, the residents chant and sing a traditional song of tradition before they are slaughtered and before the meat, fat and skins of the whales are slaughtered evenly, so that everyone can share in the gain they have either eaten or sold.

It gets under my skin. While I can understand people having traditions, this is just brutal.

At least there's the small consolation of them utilising all of the meat, I guess.

It is something that makes you sad

I have no words to comment on such barbarity...

The truth is I do not know why they are doing it
