Freewrite Prompt: Come Together

Hello Freewriters, it is so good to be back together! I have been seeing more posts and I think Steemit is finally back to more normal now after about 6-7 days! Here goes the freewrite for today!

After not meeting each other for a long time, Jane was sure glad to meet Cassie up for a catchup over tea. She had just got back from overseas after working there for years and he was so looking forward to meet her old friends.

After a long tight hug...

"Hey Cassie, are you going to the upcoming wedding of Lance and Paige? I am so happy for them. They are finally getting married after dating for almost a decade since our high school days!" exclaimed Jane.

"Oh... about that...." hesitated Cassie.

"It will be such a great gathering for everyone of us! I am sure everyone will come together and I can meet our old classmates along with some of their families as well! I am so excited that I have already gotten ready a dress for their happy occasion!" Jane went on and on, yet to noticed the dilemma on Cassie's face. "What are you going to wear?"

"Erm... I am not too sure if I am going," said Cassie slowly and softly.

"Why not? You aren't free? Don't you want to meet everyone?" Jane started paying more attention to Cassie.

"I don't think everyone want to see me, especially Lance and Paige. Erm... I actually did something," Cassie said it with much embarrassment and guilt.

"Okay. If you are invited, I think maybe they don't mind it anymore," Jane was trying to probe carefully.

"I don't think they can get over it. Erm... you see, I had a crush on Lance after we got into the same college. I sort of got together with Lance and we had a night. I thought he would ditch Paige for me and everything may change after that night. I was so head over heels with him that I didn't think. I felt like we were meant to be. "

"You did what?! How could you?"

"I had no choice, it was love, or so I thought. The night when Lance got drunk, I took opportunity. My emotions took over me and I felt I had to do it. I thought that was our turning point. But it didn't happen. Lance went back to Paige to ask for forgiveness and he told me it was a mistake. I really thought we had a special spark."

"Well, you had a choice and you did what you did. So, I guess everything else now are just consequences to your actions. Everyone has a choice to choose what to act upon, we always have a choice," Jane replied after recovering from her shock. Now as she recalls, all the puzzle pieces seem to come together: Some friends avoid speaking about Cassie, Cassie stopped meeting many of their mutual friends, when she called Ben who is Lance's best friend to meet Cassie together, he seemed to be finding excuses. "Maybe they have forgiven you since you receive their invitation as well."

"I still think it is best I don't appear. It is hard for me to accept that he chose her and not me."

Jane could not believe the kind of "confidence" Cassie has. So, looks like it is not a come-together, at least not for everyone.

On another note, I am so thankful to some of you who have upvoted and resteemed my post about rallying support for @surpassinggoogle. I am always touched to see many come together to support a good cause and of course, a good person like him too! Thank you for coming together to support my series on Discovering the Undermined Gems as well!
