My Sunday…A Day Late

in #esteem6 years ago

This was supposed to be my Sunday post and, technically, it still is but I’m posting it today. Yesterday started too early with a text that my mother-in-law was in the hospital. She’s been in the hospital a lot the last two years. She has Meniere’s disease and had a mild stroke recently. Meniere’s disease is an inner ear disorder which leaves her with an almost constant vertigo feeling and causes her to feel very sick to the point of passing out. The stroke she had was very mild but has since had two TIA’s which stands for transient ischemic attacks. A TIA is often called a mini stroke but it doesn’t cause permanent damage. The text that my husband received was worded in a way that led him to believe it was a full stroke and not a TIA. Regardless, we found ourselves on the way to the hospital at about 5:30am.

When we got to her room, she was already up and was alert. We were happy to learn that it wasn’t as serious as we thought although a TIA can be a warning that you could have a stroke. So, we caught up on how she was doing and other family news. She was in a private room which had a window with a view. As I looked out the window, I noticed her room was right above the helicopter pad. I know that right about now you are thinking what I was thinking…would be pretty cool to get a photo of a helicopter landing there! Well, it didn’t happen! I’m kinda’ glad because it would mean that someone was seriously hurt and I’d hate for that so we will just settle for a photo of the helicopter pad but no helicopter.

We could tell she was feeling tired so we said our goodbye’s and figured we would stop and visit family now as it was after 8am and my husband had bought two dozen donuts thinking we’d stop in and see some family but his sister had just gotten in from a camping trip with her son’s scout troop and needed sleep and his brother’s family was already mostly up and out with friends so now we have two dozen donuts to take home..lol!

When we got home, my husband decided to catch a nap. My daughter stopped by to take care of her rabbits and offered to work on my front garden. I kept her company and took photos of happenings in the yard. I thought the Hibiscus was done blooming but last week it had two blooms.

They didn’t last long between the rain and the cold nights and now I thought for sure they were done blooming.

Key word there was thought as I found another bud yesterday!

Same with the Hosta! Found this stragler! Been such a crazy summer weather wise that even the plants are confused!

I also found one flower still on the trumpet vine and even a couple of flowers on the Motherwort.

I don’t know what this little white flower is but probably some kind of weed as I see them in several spots of the yard. I think it is pretty though!

My daughter did a great job on the front garden and walkway. She isn’t quite done so will finish up today.

She put down mulch in the front gardens after pulling weeds and also weeded and mulched under the little Japanese maple tree which Baby (the cat) really liked as well.

I think I finally went to bed about 9pm. Not gonna lie, I was pretty darn tired and missed putting up my post. Had some crazy dreams about voting and donuts! Go figure!
